In April, 2015, Anglican Church Women
of Canada celebrated 130 years of
formal women's ministry,
and it all started in Ottawa.
In 1885, as Canada was still being
settled, Roberta Tilton was concerned
about the need for the Christian Gospel
in the north and west of Canada.
She and a few friends approached the
Domestic and Foreign Service board, for permission to start a Woman's Auxiliary. Groups were formed and dues were collected.
In 1968, the national Woman's Auxiliary leadership stepped down, and Anglican Church Women was born.
Today, every woman in every parish is considered to be an Anglican Church Woman.
Some join a group, (where dues are optional). Some enjoy a busy life with no time for formal membership. ACW welcomes you all, and seeks to support you in your spiritual journey.
ACW Membership
Who can be a Member of ACW?
Every baptised woman in every parish of the Anglican Church of Canada is considered to be an Anglican Church Woman so is automatically a member of the ACW.
Where can I find an active ACW group?
Not all parishes have an active ACW group, but you can always start one, and we're here to help. Or maybe you'd prefer to join one in another parish close to where you live.
Email or phone one of the executive members, if you would like help in starting a woman’s group in your parish.
All ACW activities cancelled
due to the Covid-19 pandemic
